1. "The Legend of the Rebel Soldier" sung by Lee Ann Womack
2. "Marching Through Georgia" sung by Old Crow Medicine Show
|
Bring the good old bugle, boys, we'll sing another song
Sing it with a spirit that will start the world along Sing it as we used to sing it, 50,000 strong While we were marching through Georgia. Chorus Hurrah! Hurrah! we bring the jubilee! Hurrah! Hurrah! the flag that makes you free! So we sang the chorus from Atlanta to the sea While we were marching through Georgia. Verse 2 How the people shouted when they heard the joyful sound How the turkeys gobbled which our commissary found How the sweet potatoes even started from the ground While we were marching through Georgia. Verse 3 Yes and there were Union men who wept with joyful tears, When they saw the honored flag they had not seen for years; Hardly could they be restrained from breaking forth in cheers, While we were marching through Georgia. CHORUS Verse 4 "Sherman's dashing Yankee boys will never reach the coast!" So the saucy rebels said and 'twas a handsome boast Had they not forgot, alas! to reckon with the Host While we were marching through Georgia. Verse 5 So we made a thoroughfare for freedom and her train, Sixty miles in latitude, three hundred to the main; Treason fled before us, for resistance was in vain While we were marching through Georgia. CHORUS |

Old Missus marry “Will the weaver,” Willium was a gay deceiver; Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land. And when he put his arm around ‘er, He smiled as fierce as a forty-pounder, Look away! Away, away, away down south in Dixie. His face was sharp as a butcher’s cleaver But that did not seem to grieve ‘er Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land. 4. "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" sung by Ronnie Gilbert
The lyrics to When Johnny Comes Marching Home were written by the Irish-American bandleader Patrick Gilmore during the American Civil War. Gilmore is said to have written the song for his sister Annie as she prayed for the safe return of her fiancé, Union Light Artillery Captain John O'Rourke, from the Civil War, although it is not clear if the engagement already existed in 1863 and the two were not married until 1875.

5. "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" sung by Tom Glazer
|
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored; He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword: His truth is marching on. Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! His truth is marching on. I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps, They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps; I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps: His day is marching on. Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! His day is marching on. I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnished rows of steel: "As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall deal"; Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel, Since God is marching on. Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Since God is marching on. He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat; He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat: Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet! Our God is marching on. Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Our God is marching on. In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me. As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free, While God is marching on. Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! While God is marching on. |
6. "The Bonnie Blue Flag" sung on the movie Gods and Generals
|
1. We are a band of brothers and native to the soil,
Fighting for our Liberty, With treasure, blood and toil And when our rights were threatened, the cry rose near and far Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star! CHORUS: Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights, hurrah! Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star. 2. As long as the Union was faithful to her trust, Like friends and like brethren, kind were we, and just But now, when Northern treachery attempts our rights to mar We hoist on high the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star. Chorus 3. First gallant South Carolina nobly made the stand, Then came Alabama and took her by the hand Next, quickly Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida All raised on high the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star. Chorus 4. Ye men of valor gather round the banner of the right, Texas and fair Louisiana join us in the fight Davis, our loved President, and Stephens statesmen rare Now rally round the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star. Chorus 5. Now here's to brave Virginia, the Old Dominion State, With the young Confederacy at last has sealed her fate, And spurred by her example, now other states prepare To hoist high the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star. Chorus 6. Then cheer, boys, cheer, raise a joyous shout, For Arkansas and North Carolina now have both gone out, And let another rousing cheer for Tennessee be given, The single star of the Bonnie Blue Flag has grown to be eleven. Chorus 7. Then here's to our Confederacy, strong we are and brave, Like patriots of old we'll fight, our heritage to save; And rather than submit to shame, to die we would prefer, So cheer for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.
